Piloting the use of this industry leading motorcoach, which can travel in excess of 260 miles between charges, MTRWestern is bringing zero emissions travel to many of its clients in the U.S. and Canada. These electric vehicles showcase the potential for transporting 12 to 69 passengers completely emissions free. The tours industry leading Van Hool TDX25E Double Deck 69-passenger motorcoach, and the CX45E 52-passenger coach utilize Proterra battery systems and are capable of ranges well over 250 miles per charge. In addition, the tour also includes 100% battery electric cutaway shuttles based on popular chassis options including the Ford E450. CRANSTON, R.I. (WJAR) — A 100% battery-powered coach was on display before the media in Cranston on Thursday.The owner of Flagship Trailways hopes to add it to his fleet, with help from the U.S. government.The nearly noise-free, zero-emission ride is being touted as the wave of the future.

“When you look at all the research efforts going, all the alternate energies that we can tap into, we can build a grid that will provide us the ability to move around by electricity, not by oil,” Sen. Jack Reed said at the demonstration.

ABC Companies is the dealer for owner Van Hool that has so far sold 100% electric coach buses on the West Coast and hopes to lease this one as the first of its kind in Rhode Island to Flagship Trailways.

Beginning at ABC’s Winter Garden, Florida headquarters and ending at ABC’s Costa Mesa, California facility, the route included elevations in excess of 5,000 feet, passage through mountain crossings, and a variety of road and climate conditions over a distance of 2,500 miles. ABC Companies provided a new 100% battery-electric Van Hool CX45E motorcoach – to facilitate the pilot program road test. This demonstration unit is the same make and model ABC began delivering to customers in early 2021 and is used for ongoing data collection and performance benchmarking with customer specific applications.

ABC Companies, a leading provider of motorcoach, transit and specialty passenger transport equipment in the USA and Canada, has expanded its distribution agreement with Turtle Top to offer its popular Odyssey, Terra Transit and Vanterra product line in locations covering the eastern seaboard from Georgia to New York State, as well as the states of Oklahoma and Texas. The Turtle Top conversions will be available on a number of premium performance chassis’ including the Ford E 350, E450, F550, F600 and Freightliner S2C, for flexibility in almost any application. ABC will offer combustion and 100% battery electric versions of popular models, providing EV options for Turtle Top premium shuttles with numerous seating configurations to accommodate up to 34 riders and multiple wheelchair options.
